A new and exciting experience for players and parents alike.
When your young soccer player enters 5th grade, his or her team will begin to play in a league called MISA, the Marin Interleague Soccer Alliance. This is an alliance of all the soccer clubs in Marin County. In MISA, instead of playing all games solely against West Marin teams, competition is between teams from throughout the County.
MISA was formed to give soccer players from the 5th through 12th grades the opportunity to have a higher level playing experience, while still enjoying other activities in their lives besides soccer. With the High School season recently moved to the winter season, our fall season provides an exciting opportunity for players to stay sharp and play in a competitive league, yet with a limited time commitment. Often these are players who play other sports and participate in other activities during the fall season.
The quality of play in MISA is quite high, yet our teams accommodate players of varying skill levels. Some have played on select teams but returned to MISA because of the high quality of play and because they want a less intense, less time-consuming soccer experience. At the same time, as a rec league, it still teaches and integrates less experienced players and is an exciting step-up for players whose playing lives have all been spent in West Marin.
WMYSL supplies professional trainers for all ages in the program. Trainings focus on teaching the skills and tactics that will allow all players to develop beyond their current level, while having fun. Players will be preparing for High School competition as well as for a lifetime of enjoyment in recreational and pick-up games.
Games are played at these other clubs’ venues all throughout Marin, as well as at home (White Hill, Lagunitas and West Marin School).
MISA gives young athletes an opportunity to play and improve, in a game they love, but without needing to commit their whole lives to it.
